At Helpmekaar we are passionate about balancing production, with production capability and breeding livestock genetics that will positively contribute to our philosophy of sustainability and efficiency, which underpins everything we do. We are fourth generation animal & plant lovers, that are on a mission to constantly and consistently improve and nurture the performance of our herds and our soil.
Building on the genetic material of being one of the founder farms of the South African Brangus breed, our award-winning Brangus Stud embodies the priceless treasure of quality genetics & over 50 years of lineage.
We value the wellbeing and health of all our livestock animals therefore we raise them free range, hormone and routine antibiotic free. We are a force for good and adopt sustainable farming practises that benefit our people and planet.
STUD
The Brangus is a composite breed, originally composed of 3/8’s Brahman and 5/8’s Angus.
The first Brangus animal was imported to South Africa in 1963.
Brangus cattle inherit the best of both worlds. The Brahman, hailing from India, contributes its heat tolerance, hardiness, and resistance to pests. Angus, with its Scottish roots, brings marbling, muscle, and a calm demeanor.
Helpmekaar farm is proud to hold one of the oldest gene pools in the country. A consequence of multi-generational commitment to this incredible cattle breed.
Our Brangus cattle delivers exceptionally well on core cattle farming efficiencies such as temperament, ease of calving, great weaning & mothering ability and most importantly they are adaptable and hardy increasing their disease tolerance.
